Ayurveda offers unique therapeutic measures that heal acute and chronic diseases. Shalya tantra is one of the eight branches of Ayurveda deals with both surgical and as well as para –surgical procedures. Kshara Sutra , impregnated with milk of Euphorbia nerifolia, powder of Kurkuma and alkaline powder of Achyranthes aspera is a medicated thread with chemical caustics. The Kshara Sutra thread was moderately tightened and tied outside verge over the anoderm. The fistulous tract tied by Kshara Sutra thread was cut through 1-3 weeks on average depending upon the initial length of the tracts and at the same time brings healing of the wound. In Europe this method of treatment in anal fistel diseases is not very popular. Since four years w e have started this method of treatment in fistula in ano in our Ayurveda und Venenklinik in Klagenfurt , Austria. We could get very good results in this method. Kshara Suta technique for anal fistula is simple, easy and safe. The advantages of this technique are day clinic treatment, short operative time and absence of anal dysfunction or side effects.
